If you have a missing tooth in the upper or lower jaw, a crown mounted on a dental implant is often the best solution for restoring both function and aesthetics.
A fixed implant-supported crown not only looks like your natural tooth but also feels like it. The implant, crown, and surrounding gums work together to create a seamless, harmonious restoration. The dental implant itself replaces the lost tooth root and serves as a sturdy base for the crown, ensuring stability and long-term durability.
One of the major advantages of implant-supported crowns is that they do not require reshaping or modifying adjacent healthy teeth. This means more of your natural tooth structure is preserved, promoting better overall oral health.
We specialise in “Invisible Restorations.” Our master technicians hand-craft your new tooth to match the exact light-reflective properties, texture, and colour of your surrounding teeth.
We often recommend a dental implant as the “gold standard.” Because it acts as a standalone root, we don’t need to “file down” the healthy neighbouring teeth to support a bridge, preserving your natural tooth structure.
Using our in-house CBCT scanner, we plan the placement of your single implant with digital accuracy. This ensures the tooth emerges from the gum at the perfect angle for a natural, symmetrical appearance.
From the initial scan to the final fitting, our team provides a supportive environment. We explain every stage of the process, ensuring you feel comfortable and informed throughout your journey.

While only a professional restoration can permanently replace the tooth, these steps are essential for protecting the area in the meantime:
Meticulous Gap Hygiene: Use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean the gum tissue where the tooth used to be to prevent localised inflammation.
Check Neighbouring Stability: Keep an eye on the teeth on either side of the gap; if they begin to feel sensitive or “tilted,” it’s a sign that the bone is shifting.
Avoid “Gap Chewing”: Try to avoid chewing hard or sharp foods (like crusty bread or crisps) directly on the exposed gum to prevent trauma to the tissue.
Salt Water Rinses: If the tooth was recently extracted, regular warm salt water rinses will help keep the socket sterile and promote faster healing.
Book a Single-Tooth Assessment: Schedule a consultation to discuss whether a discreet dental implant or a bespoke porcelain bridge is the best fit for your smile.
At Acorn Dental, our goal is to provide a restoration that is as functional as it is beautiful. Our dentists will lead your care, starting with a comprehensive Bone and Bite Analysis to identify the most stable replacement option. For a permanent, life-like result, we typically use a Single Dental Implant topped with a custom-crafted porcelain crown. This provides a secure, standalone tooth that you can brush and floss just like your others. Alternatively, for a non-surgical approach, we can provide a Bespoke Dental Bridge, ensuring your smile line is restored to its natural, uniform perfection.
Even at the back, a missing tooth causes problems. The adjacent teeth will eventually lean into the space, which can create difficult-to-clean areas and lead to gum disease. It can also cause your “bite” to shift, potentially leading to jaw pain (TMJ) over time.
The entire process usually takes between 3 and 6 months. This allows the implant “root” to fully integrate with your jawbone (osseointegration) before we place the final, permanent crown. We can often provide a temporary tooth in the meantime so you are never left with a gap.
An implant is generally better because it is a standalone solution that doesn’t affect the teeth on either side. However, a bridge might be a better option if the neighbouring teeth already have large fillings or crowns and would benefit from being strengthened.
