Very much a local, Manoj went to school, lived, and now works in the area, and simply can’t imagine being anywhere else. After qualifying in 1998 from Sheffield Dental Hospital he returned to Birmingham to complete his post-graduate year at Acorn with Bill Cooper, and he liked it so much he ‘bought the practice’!

Building upon the strong reputation created by Dr Cooper, Manoj has retained the accreditation as a training practice, which not only means he can offer guidance and support to newly qualified surgeons, but that patients also benefit from the most up-to-date and pioneering treatment options.

Manoj has a passion for restorative dentistry, in particular implant dentistry, completing his Masters in 2013. He continues to lecture on all aspects of smile design, and runs a peer-to-peer study group for other dental surgeons on the subject of implants.

Often referred to as ‘the other Dr Parmar’, Dipesh is making his own, and most considerable, impact in the world of dentistry. Having qualified from the University of Birmingham, banking prizes in Restorative, Prosthetic, Conservative and Aesthetic dentistry, Dipesh has committed to the pursuit of excellence and is now often invited to speak and educate at some of the worlds most prestigious dental conferences.

With a principle interest in cosmetic, advanced restorative and orthodontic dentistry, Dipesh has won on multiple occasions at the UK Aesthetic Dentistry Awards and lectures internationally (Toronto, New Zealand, Poland, Middle East, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago) on minimally invasive smile enhancement techniques and makeovers. He has co-authored several peer-reviewed dental articles and is currently completing his Masters degrees in both Restorative Dentistry and Orthodontic Dentistry.

My name is Nisha Parmar and I have the honour of being the Business & HR Manager across all three sites of Acorn Dental.

I gained my BA (Hons) Business Studies in 2001 from University of Central England (UCE). Following my marriage to Manoj Parmar, I took an interest in the wonderful world of dentistry to help him in his first steps as practice owner.  To do this, I gained further qualifications in Dental Practice Management Diploma, a Leadership & Management Diploma and a Human Resources (HR) Diploma which enabled me to support both Manoj and my brother-in-law Dipesh in their vision to provide and deliver an excellent service in all aspects of dentistry.

Once I am home, I change hats and concentrate on my family – my 2 wonderful children (daughter and son) and parents.  As a family we enjoy cooking and watching movies, but our absolute favourite thing to do together is embarking on adventures, travelling and exploring cultures and cuisines from other countries.

On a personal note, my interests include walking and hiking, I recently climbed Mount Snowdon or to be officially correct ‘Yr Wyddfa’, the ‘Seven Sisters’ and the Brecon Beacons.  A wonderful experience which I would recommend to anyone.

I am also the lead singer in a band called Bollywood Beats, alongside Manoj who plays the keyboard and Dipesh who plays the drums.  We perform for local communities around the country in a variety of venues.  Although, as yet, we have not performed in front of the Britain’s Got Talent’s judges!!

I strongly believe in serving the community and giving back and do so by helping and singing in my local community cultural events and at temples and residential homes for elderly people – I feel that by singing their favourite songs to them brings a big smile to their faces – absolutely priceless.

Chirag or “Chiggs” as he is commonly known, graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2014. As a student he won an array of awards related to his interests in dentistry which restores a patient’s ability to eat, whilst looking aesthetically beautiful.

Realising the positive impact he could have on his community through artistry, education and quality dentistry, Chiggs sought additional training from the very best mentors in the UK. After completing his foundation year in Heswall, he moved back to his family home in Wolverhampton for his mum’s good food, and to work as a Senior House Officer at Birmingham community services and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Here, he diversified his skills, assisting patients with additional needs, anxiety, trauma and cancer.

His love for the city of Liverpool meant that very soon, he was back in the North-west, where he perfected the art of creating confident smiles. Chiggs has worked in high-level private practice ever since and has completed hundreds of smile-makeovers using techniques which mean as much natural tooth-tissue is preserved.

Chiggs achieves confident smiles in a minimally-invasive way using treatments such as tooth-straightening, whitening, composite bonding and porcelain veneers. Often he talks about his “ABC” technique which means “Alignment, Bleach and Composite bond”.

His dedication to his community and quality craftmanship was recognised at the Private Dentistry Awards, where he won “Best Young Dentist Northwest 2022”. He loved the recognition he received on the night, but says he loved the pride on his parent’s face, and dancing so much more. He has now moved back to the midlands to be closer to his parents, and to share the knowledge and skills he has crafted over the last 10 years.

Chiggs ensures he stays on top of the very latest techniques to improve the quality of the care he provides his patients, and is currently in his final year of a Master’s degree at the King’s College London studying Smile rehabilitation using Crowns, Bridges, Veneers, Composite, Implants and Dentures.

Outside of dentistry Chiggs has a passion for cooking and wishes to write a cookbook in honour of his Mum’s recipes some day. You can learn more about Chiggs on Instagram @dr.chiggs (his instagram reels are always showing F1, travel, teeth, kittens, food and photography!).

Miki studied in her native Japan where she qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 1988 before moving to the UK to study at Leeds University, again in Dental Hygiene. She regularly attends conferences which she describes as “critical in this amazing and fast changing profession”. Her time is divided between Acorn, and another two practices, one of which is in London. Central to Miki’s success and enduring popularity is her determination to build strong relationships through patience & understanding.

Described by many of our patients as gentle and kind, Miki understands that few people enjoy the experience a visit to the hygienist entails, however, after 10 years at Acorn she has a pretty good understanding of each of the patients’ likes and dislikes. She loves her ‘catch-up time with the team’ during lunch and is fascinated by the varied contents of everyone’s lunchbox!

Reading Japanese authors is a passion, in particular Buddhist teaching and aspects of self-awareness. Miki also loves to spend time sharing good times, fine food, and lots of laughter with her husband and friends.
